We Should Have Come Sooner

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
Matthew 24:14
That is a fundamental verse for Passion Promise Ministries.
One of the most beautiful things about this verse is that it is a promise not a command! The command comes later in the Great Commission. What encouragement from God’s word that we can choose to be a part of this promise.
Jesus tells us that the world is going to be a pretty terrible place to live in in the days before He returns. Yet He promises us that every people group in the world will have a testimony of the Gospel during the last difficult days and then He will come again in glory to make all things right!
The word “nations” in Matthew 24:14 does not mean nation states. It means people groups.
We work with an incredible ministry called Project 3000. The purpose of this ministry is to get the Gospel to people groups that are totally unengaged.
It should be shocking for any believer to have no knowledge that there are unengaged people groups in the world. To have no concern for them and no involvement in reaching them should be unthinkable for us. Jesus said he’s going to come again when these people groups have heard the Gospel. Do we actually believe that or not?
If you do and you have not been involved, consider becoming a virtual explorer today for Project 3000. Consider going yourself! Or consider asking your church to do everything they can to send someone.
What greater joy could a believer have than being an active part of doing what Jesus said will usher in His coming!
I want to finish this post with a story. When I finish, I will not elaborate. I want to leave it with you to think and pray about. It is one of the most convicting stories I have ever heard. When you finish reading the story below, determine what you will do.
John is not his real name but he is a Project 3000 missionary in a risky region of the world.
Recently, John served alongside us on six university campuses in Florida. He shared with students the urgency of reaching the unengaged people groups that are remaining. At least twelve young adults committed to join him in the days ahead at the edge of the Earth.
During John’s time overseas, he and his translator were able to find a people group that no one even knew existed. This people group was immediately open, and many began to receive the message and give their lives to Jesus!
However, one old woman ran into her hut, screaming. They found her inside smashing things in her little home.
When they asked her what was wrong this was her response:
“You just told us that Jesus is the only way to heaven. Is that true?”
“Yes, why has that made you upset?” John said.
The woman replied, “My husband just died. He never had a chance to hear this.”
“Why didn’t you come sooner? You should have come sooner!” she cried.
